To Be One, Ask One

To Be One, Ask One

From the East – March 2016

My Dear Brother,

The year of 2016 is up and running, and in just this short time, we have already we have accomplished so much!  In reflecting upon the spread of Masonic light, it is plain to see that this year is off to a successful start.march pic

A perfect example of this would be the way that the numerous current Fellowcraft Masons of our lodge have continued their search for more light.  Even this early in the year, their search has led them to embrace the fraternity.   They’re demonstrating their support by attending lodge events, and pursuing active roles in the community.  I’ve found their enthusiasm and passion to be a refreshing reminder for all members to continue our own pursuits in seeking and spreading light.

As speculative Masons, the Trowel is the tool that we hold of great    significance, as it represents spreading the cement of brotherly love and affection.  The idea of spreading light, brotherly love, and affection is something that is very close to my heart, and I’m sure it is to yours, as well. And, as Masonry is a lifestyle, we know that the spread of light isn’t something that should end once we leave the lodge.  Each day, our goal is to spread light to our families, friends, coworkers, and even to people that we have just met.

This month, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect and ask yourself- who in your life could use your brotherly love and affection?  Is it a brother Mason? Someone in your family? Or, could it be a neighbor, or a passerby in your busy day? When we share our light, we exemplifying the great qualities that set us apart as men of Masonry, and strengthen the foundation of Masonic traditions for years to come.

I remain your friend and brother,

Jeremiah Phillips
