From the East – April 2016

My Dear Brother,

One of the greatest strengths of our fraternity is its stability throughout the years. There have been many challenges endured by Masonry over the centuries. The fraternity has survived political, social, and economic issues including scandals and downright persecution. I believe part of our fraternity’s ability to withstand these occasional forces comes from two things; the ritual (which never changes) and the strength of lodge officers advancing through their respective stations and places.

In a “perfect” scenario, it takes someone nine years to move through the offices and become Master of the lodge. This time is designed to be spent learning the rituals, and understanding
the principles of lodge management.  With such leadership, lodges prosper, successful programs are continued, and new programs are introduced.

By being on committees and helping with different lodge duties, our officers will hone their skills in lodge management while still having a lot of support from our Past Masters. We are all living stones in our lodge and I hope that all the members of lodge will continue to help with the duties and tasks that it will take to be a full and vibrant lodge for years to come.

We are all rough Ashlars hoping to get a more perfect state through the teachings of the Supreme Architect of the Universe and through the great Book of Life.
