Joseph “Kip” Duffy Memorial Trade Scholarship
The Joseph “Kip” Duffy IV Memorial Trade Scholarship is established by Medford Lodge #178 of Free and Accepted Masons in Medford, NJ. Students taking their trade education beyond high school and entering trade school or a trade apprenticeship are to be recommended by their instructor based on merit guidelines and need, to assist them with the next step in their trade career.
Joseph served in the United States Marine Corps and worked on a Homeland Security detail in dignitary protection. He also worked and retired from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. He enjoyed being of service to his community using his background as a trained USMC Electrician. He volunteered with multiple community organizations including the Girl Scouts, where he regularly helped children who lacked father figures. He was also a dedicated community volunteer as both a member, and an officer, of Medford Masonic Lodge #178.

Merit Guidelines
It is hoped that Brother Duffy’s inspirational commitment to community service will be passed on to a worthy candidate who shares Kip’s love of all things electrical. This scholarship is based purely upon the recommendation of school instructors, for a deserving student in the field of electronics that exhibits these qualities:
A love of serving their community. A commitment to volunteerism is strongly encouraged
An intent to enter trade school or a trade apprenticeship within one year of graduation
Positive cooperation and collaboration with fellow students and teachers
A drive to continually learn and constantly improve their trade skills
About the Award
The award will normally range between $250 and $500, depending on funds raised each year toward this award.
There are no restrictions on how the award is used, so long as it is used to assist the recipient with trade classes, equipment, or other trade education-related expenses. Should there be no candidate deemed worthy of the award specifically in the field of electronics, the award may be opened up to students entering a comparable trade through a similar path and who exhibit the same qualities listed in the merit guidelines.
